My name is Dev Chaudhary. I was born in small town of Nepal called Chitwan in family of five. Being a farmer, my parents had a dream of educating their children but in our Tharu community, education was not important, only very few families or people were following this path of education. While, I was determined to change this and I worked hard to be successful to get lights of education. Almost all of the member in my family and previous generations in my communities were illiterate or less educated where they were pushed to do less-desirable jobs like their ancestors for many reasons and one of them was poverty. Thus, it was very important for me to continue my education but after 10th grade, my parent struggled to support my education. Luckily, I come across Nepalese coordinator Ram Rijal and the Dutch organization Studentenprojecten Nepal who supported my college education cost. They supported students like me to make their dream come true providing sponsor money for the school.
There are many people behind successful completion of my education from Proficiency Certificate Level in Management to Bachelor’s Degree in Information management. I would not have completed my college and bachelor’s degree without their help. It’s their love and supports that has kept me motivated and I was able to gather all the resources and cost for my education combining sponsor amount from 2 different Dutch organization, one of them was Stichting Studentenprojecten Nepal. In addition to that, there are many other individuals from Nederland’s and one person from Canada named Lillian Davies to whom I met while I was working in an orphanage at Kathmandu. After completing +2, I joined BIM at Prime College even though program was expensive, I made it possible by collecting sponsor money from more sources, like Stichting Studentenprojecten Nepal and Stichting Nepal Pariwar. The board and my sponsors of Stichting Studentenprojecten Nepal have played a very crucial role to help me succeed.
Lastly, I am very thankful for all the people involved in both organizations who have helped me and provided opportunity to pursue my dream. Today, I wouldn’t have been reached where I am without their help and support. I got to come to United States of America, currently living here with my wife and 2 years old baby boy. Besides that, I do have a good job, I work at the University of Colorado as a Facility Supervisor. I am glad to have your blessings.
Thanks to all of you so very much.
