I am Anzali Shah, one of the selected candidates who receive the scholarship from Studenten Projecten Nepal (SPN). I came from remote area that is Dadeldhura District which lies in the far-Western part of Nepal. In my village, still many girls are out of school. In some place school going girls drop-out their school due to poor financial condition and early marriage practice. Among those girls, I am one of luckiest girl who get chance to study in Kathmandu. My mother is asthma patient and my father is suffered from glaucoma. Due to their poor health condition, they have burden to pay my tuition fee, accommodation, books and stationeries; which became less after the scholarship from SPN.
I have been receiving scholarship from SPN since grade nine. This scholarship not only minimize financial burden of my family but also supportive to continue my higher study. Yet, I am studying Bachelors Second year in Tribhuvan University. I have chosen Social Work and Psychology as my major subjects. My dream is to be a psychologist and a good social worker in the future. I am also interested in art, paintings and football. I won some gold and silver medals both in school and college level. There are many painting of mine, which I learned through self-practice.
I want to be a good social worker and have a plan to help poor, needy and girls who have been depriving from the several opportunities in their everyday life. I am keen interested to open an NGO to aware the poor and needy children through education program in the future. Recently, I am working as a social worker at an orphanage named Maya Ghar; where I help children in their study, sharing stories and jokes, washing their clothes, cooking food and playing volleyball, basketball and football with them. Since last few years back, I have been celebrating Dashain festival with orphans. In addition, I introduced four orphans to SPN controller so that they also able to receive scholarship which is one of my great social work in my life.
I hope SPN would continue to provide such scholarship to many girls, poor and marginal students whose parents unable afford the educational expenses. I would like thank SPN and Dutch social workers for providing me scholarship. I would also like to express my gratitude to my sponsor who have been supporting in my study. It’s my great pleasure to be part of SPN.
